Nearshore staffing and recruitment · ENG

Hire nearshore software engineers who work your sprint, not the night shift.

Nearshore software engineers are developers based in Latin America who work US hours as full members of your engineering team. nearshore.now finds them, vets them and employs them in their country. You run the standups, the code review and the roadmap.

The role7 titles placed

What a nearshore software engineer does on your team.

  • Takes tickets from your backlog and ships them through your pull-request flow.
  • Joins the same standup, planning and retro as the rest of the team.
  • Owns services end to end: design, implementation, tests, deploy, on-call rotation if you run one.
  • Pairs with your engineers in real time, because the hours overlap.

Vetting4 steps · you interview the finalists

How we vet software engineers.

  1. Torre.ai matching on skills, seniority and English, then a manual review of the shortlist.
  2. A live technical interview with a senior engineer, on the stack you use.
  3. A pairing or take-home exercise scored against a rubric, never a trivia quiz.
  4. An English interview and reference checks with former managers.

Then you interview the three to five who pass. We never place someone you have not met.

Why Latin America for software engineers.

Latin America produces a lot of engineers and the biggest US tech companies already hire them: Guadalajara, Medellín, Buenos Aires, Córdoba and São Paulo each host engineering offices for US firms. The difference with nearshore staffing is that you get the same engineers without opening an office. The time zone does the rest: a Bogotá engineer works the full Eastern and Central day, and six to seven hours of the Pacific day.

Fithonest answer on the call

When it fits, and when it doesn't.

A good fit when

  • You have a product and a backlog, and you need capacity that shows up to standup.
  • Your team already reviews code and writes tickets. A nearshore engineer slots into that.
  • You want to keep the option of visiting: Miami to Bogotá is three and a half hours.

Not the right tool when

  • You need a whole product built with no technical leadership on your side. That is an agency job, not a staffing job.
  • You need someone on-site five days a week.

Related roles

01Do nearshore engineers work US hours?

Yes. Colombia, Peru and Mexico are on Eastern or Central time for most of the year, and Argentina and Brazil are one to two hours ahead of New York. A Latin American engineer works the same day your team does; there is no overnight handoff.

02Who owns the code?

You do. Every placement contract assigns intellectual property to your company, and the engineer works inside your repositories and accounts from day one.

03Can I interview the engineers before hiring?

Yes, and you should. We send three to five vetted candidates; you interview the ones you like and make the call. We never place someone you have not met.

04Can I hire a nearshore software engineer through staffing or recruitment?

Either. With nearshore staffing, nearshore.now employs the software engineer in their country and you pay a flat monthly fee. With nearshore recruitment, we run the same search and vetting, and you hire the software engineer directly for a one-time fee.
